Invisalign Clear Aligners

Free Consultations, Flexible Payments Plans, Pay as little as $99/month!

Invisalign.Discover Orthodontics proudly offers Invisalign and several other types of braces in Brampton, Mississauga, Caledon, Burlington, Oakville, and Waterdown. As the name implies, Invisalign clear aligners are made of almost invisible polyurethane plastic, making them a popular alternative to metal braces.

As opposed to metal braces and clear braces, clear aligners are completely removable which comes in handy during social occasions, when eating, or when brushing and flossing. However, of course, you need to resist the temptation to take your aligners out more than necessary to get the most value from them.

Benefits of Invisalign

The Invisalign system has many advantages:

  • Better oral hygiene: Removable orthodontic devices make it easier to clean your teeth than metal braces.
  • Discreet appearance: If you don't like how metal braces make you look, this almost invisible orthodontic treatment might be right for you.
  • More meal options: Unlike traditional metal braces, clear aligners don't require you to change your diet, so you can still eat the foods you love.
  • Comfort: Unlike metal wires and braces, clear aligners are made of soft, flexible material that won't irritate your mouth's soft tissues.
  • Safe at night: Clear aligners can protect your teeth from too much wear if you grind or clench your teeth at night.

Clear aligners can indeed fix many common problems, but there are still times when traditional braces may be better for you. We are happy to discuss your options in more detail with you.

Invisalign clear aligners work the same way as traditional braces: they force teeth into a better position by applying carefully controlled force. However, they are made of clear, flexible plastic instead of metal.

How Invisalign Treatment Works

By using special computer software, we will move your teeth from where they are now to where they will be in the best possible position. During each stage, the company that makes Invisalign will create two plastic "trays" or "aligners" for your mouth, one for your top teeth and one for your bottom teeth. The treatment will be done in stages.

Invisalign Aligner. For two weeks, you'll wear these aligner trays for at least 20 hours a day. Then, you'll switch to the next set of aligners in your series to move your teeth gradually to their final position.

Two features have been added to Invisalign in the last few years that make it a better way to straighten your teeth for teens. Invisalign teens have "compliance indicators" built into the material of the aligners. These indicators fade over time as the aligners are worn. "Eruption tabs" keep the right amount of space open for molars that haven't yet grown completely. Parents, dentists, and teens themselves can then make sure the trays are being worn correctly. Invisalign treatment can only be effective if this is the case.

Caring for Your Teeth

As already mentioned, one of the best things about the Invisalign system is that the trays can be taken out and cleaned easily. You must brush your teeth after every meal or snack, so that food and plaque won't get stuck in your aligners, which could lead to tooth decay. As well as brushing and rinsing your aligners with warm water regularly, you will need to clean them regularly.

Even though wearing clear aligners is very different from wearing braces, retention is just as necessary. To protect your investment in a beautiful new smile, wear your retainer exactly as instructed by your dentist after your treatment is completed.
